The Joint Commission has named Plantation General a "top performer."
For the second year in a row, Plantation General Hospital has been recognized as a "top performer on key quality measures" by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America. Plantation was specifically noted for its performance in patient care during heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia cases, and surgical procedures.
“Plantation General Hospital is proud to be named to the list of The Joint Commission’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures," says CEO Randy Gross. "We are committed to improving the health of our patients and are pleased to see tangible results from our efforts.”
Who Is The Joint Commission?
The Joint Commission provides accreditation and certifications for more than 19,000 healthcare organizations in the United States. Of those organizations, only 620 were named as a top performer on key qualities measures. Plantation General was among the 244 organizations receiving this recognition for the second year in a row.
The Joint Commission's vision statement is "all people always experience the safest, highest quality, best-value health care across all settings." When you come to Plantation General, or another healthcare organization recognized as a top performer by the Joint Commission, you know you are receiving quality care that you can trust.
What Does This Recognition Mean?
To be named a top performer, each organization must meet two 95 percent performance thresholds on the 2011 accountability measure data. The first is a 95 percent overall performance score. The second is a 95 percent score for each category that the organization is a candidate for. For Plantation General, this includes heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care. A 95 percent score is achieved by providing the ideal prescribed care for patients at least 95 times out every 100 cases.
